Sam Caster: This whole month we’ve been talking off and on on Monday nights about mental health awareness. And I think Steve did a great job of sharing some of the products that we have that address different facets of that. I’m going to talk about our newest product, which is Core, and what it does. You know, I like to read through, this is crazy, I like to read through science articles and see where our technology falls, especially new things that are coming out. It’s like revelation, you know, my gosh, we never could have suspected this, but here it is. And so I’m going to read to you from an article that I just read not too long ago.
So, recent research published in Nature Mental Health uncovered a fascinating relationship between our brain, guts, and the tiny microbes that call our intestines home. This interconnected system known as the brain-gut microbiome plays a crucial role in your mental health and your body’s ability to deal with stress. So this is really about stress and the effect that stress has on your brain health. Research showed that the healthier your microbiome, the lower the levels of depression and anxiety that you experience.
Resilience is directly correlated with four things:
- Gut microbiome diversity. So we talk a lot about diversity when we talk about core, that the problem with just taking probiotics is you’re not addressing diversity. Because everybody has a unique microbiome and prebiotic fiber allows your gut to make what you need, what diversity is required at adequate levels.
- Adequate short-chain fatty acid production, particularly butyrate. Again, the problem with taking probiotics to address gut health is you bypass the fermentation process of prebiotics, which produce short-chain fatty acids, particularly butyrate. And so taking a probiotic misses that whole step, which is an extremely important component in gut health.
- Good mitochondrial energy production.
- Controlled inflammation and gut barrier integrity.
So those are the four things that make up a healthy gut in terms of its influence on stress and on brain health. So resilience to stress is not just about mental toughness, but it’s more about a complex interplay between your psychological state, your gut microbiome, and the structure and function of your brain. Interestingly, the activity of gut bacteria was the best predictor of resilience. In other words, there’s a lot of things you can do to try to control your brain health, but gut bacteria is the best predictor of how your mental health is going to function. Interestingly, the activity of gut bacteria was the best predictor of resilience.
So gut dysbiosis, or lack of diversity of gut bacteria, is now considered the most prevalent direct link to anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. Another study published in the Journal of Cell showed researchers at the University of Florida found that a disruption in healthy gut bacteria in early life may play a key role in the development of neurodevelopment disorders like autism, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. And so we’re seeing all of this research starting to surface out there that is linking the gut to mental challenges, particularly learning disorders with children and anxiety. And so that’s why we say heal the gut, heal the body. Again, it goes back to Hippocrates, all disease starts in the gut. And every time I read a paper like this, it just continues to validate that statement Hippocrates made 2,500years ago.
So what we did with core is we put together the most advanced technology for addressing gut health. Of course, we put together the most advanced technology for addressing gut health. And our unique blends were very specifically formulated to address very specific but different functions of gut health. And there’s not another more advanced gut health technology that exists in the marketplace.
So what I want to tell you just quickly tonight is that this should transform people’s lives. You know, we talked a few weeks ago, Christy, about the launch of our new OptiPak. I’m really excited about that too because between gut health and cellular health, if you do it right, there’s nothing that your body can’t overcome.
And so we’re really excited about the technology that we already have, but I’m double excited about the ones that are coming any week now. So that’s just a short preview. I know Mindy is the expert in this, and so I can’t wait to hear what she has to share.
But I just wanted to kind of let you guys know that with all the new literature coming out in scientific journals, we are absolutely right in the heart of what it’s going to take to transform our sick care industry into a health care industry.
