Hi, this is Tony McWilliams, and I’m here with my daughter.

Hi, I’m Lindey Duckworth, and I’m here with my dad.

And it’s just a way to get some cash flow when perhaps donations fall short.

Going back to Sam’s story, what happened to the charity side of everything? Did he close that down when he decided to do the social business model? No, not at all. The charity, the nonprofit organization, the mission that he was involved in, in terms of reaching out to children and getting nutrition into their stomachs and into their lives as a way to save their lives, he knew that that had to thrive. It’s just that it wasn’t thriving, and that’s when he went looking into the social business possibilities.

As a matter of fact, the name of that nonprofit organization that is headquartered in Grand Prairie, Texas, is Manna Relief. And like I said earlier, it was reaching at the time, and it still reaches wide and long, is some 90 countries of the world. But they also work with other nonprofit organizations.

There’s an organization out of Springfield, Missouri called Convoy of Hope. They reach 113 countries. Wow. And they help distribute because they own lots of trucks. They get boats over to the Philippines, what have you. And that’s how a lot of the nutrition gets distributed around the world.

That’s not the only thing they do either. I’m trying to think of the Brain and Body Foundation out of Nigeria. Dr. David Ajabadi heads that up. He ended up getting involved also in sickle cell anemia issues in Africa, which is a very terrible disease. Victim of sickle cell anemia. If they make it to their fifth birthday, they’re doing good. That’s how bad it can be. And if they make it into teenage years, they’re likely to have a stroke or several strokes, and they’re not going to live past the age of 40 if they get through all of that. Sickle cell anemia is very terrible.

And Sam’s group, the Manna Relief Group, has helped Dr. David Ajabadi to get the right kind of nutrition. And it’s not a cure, but it has been an improvement in quality of life, significantly so. I’ve heard reports on it. I’ve seen pictures of young people who are making it.

Oh, they also work with Children’s Hunger Fund, which is a nonprofit organization out of California. They’ve been in existence since 1992.
